Three Things To Do In Charlotte With Kids
Summer is approaching fast and there is nothing worse than hearing your kids whine about how bored they are or begging for your attention. Many of us are still working from home, but it’s nice to have some options of things to do during your lunch break or on the weekend. Here are three of my favorite spots to take the kids in Charlotte, NC.
Discovery Place Science. You’ve probably seen this on many lists already, and for good reason! We started taking our oldest son here when he was just two years old. At eight, there are still plenty of exhibits for him to enjoy and areas for my younger kids to explore as well. There are activities on the main floor for the older kids with lots of hands on exploration and rotating exhibits. Downstairs on the first floor, you can experience the rainforest, aquarium and exploration area for the younger toddlers.
The Raptor Center. The Raptor Center is a fun outdoor activity that provides lots of shade, exploration, and learning. The younger kids can walk around and enjoy the outdoors while the older kids learn about the birds at the center. Be sure to check out when special exhibits are going on and you can even enroll in a summer camp. Afterwards, the kids can explore nearby Latta Nature Preserve and Mountain Island Lake.
Freedom Park. There is always something fun going on at Freedom Park and when there’s not you can enjoy the playground, the nature walks, and biking along the paths. There are several playgrounds to choose from including the NFL Play60 Kids Zone. While you’re there you can cross over Little Sugar Creek and explore Discovery Place Nature and the beautiful butterflies in the Nature Pavilion.
